Two nights and three days later we arrived in Yazd. So far the most beautiful city in Iran and maybe even one of the prettiest ever. The area we lived in was made of little houses and narrow streets that reminded us (besides the fact that they were yellow rather than white) on old Greek architecture and falling in love with this place was just too easy.

Just a little walk from our hotel we found some more beautiful mosques, went to another bazar, visited the water museum and again: enjoyed the food food, each other’s company and the fact that being in a very touristy place allowed us to loosen our scarves a bit and leave our long jackets at home.

A funny highlight was our lunch at the Fahadan Hotel followed by a tour through the place hosted by a traditional Iranian artist.

Today we went to the silent towers, where traditionally people’s bodies were brought and put on top of the towers so that the birds could come eat the meat off the bones and the bones could then be buried less space consuming. The tradition wasn’t stopped before 1970, which is somehow scary short time ago.

Nowadays the towers are some kind of museum and we enjoyed hiking a bit and get to use our muscles again after so much just hanging and sitting around.

Back to the hotel we grabbed our stuff, went to the bus station for lunch and then took the bus to Isfahan where we will spend the next few days.
