My mum and brother arrived in Mashhad Friday morning and after a big family feast, some -let’s say “interesting”- pizza night at my granny’s and a lot of hilarious chats and sit togethers with blueberry shishas, (illegal) music and wayyyy to many cheetoz we then made our way to Shiraz, where our trip through the antik Persia started.

We had already fallen in love with a typical Iran in ice cream, made out of rice noodles that were cooked in sugar and rose water before being cooled down and either served with ice cream or lemon juice and cherry jelly on top and since the so called Faludeh’s origin is Shiraz you can imagine what are first stop had been :).

The hotel we stayed at was very central, had a not constantly working internet connection but therefor clean rooms and nice breakfast. From there many of the tourist attractions could be reached walking and so we visistwd various museums and gardens, mosques, bazars and had coffee where we found one or otherwise tea and water pipes in between way too much and very excellent foods like typical Persian rice with kebab, lamb heart and liver or other delicious sauces.

My personal highlights were the pink mosque just next door from our hotel where early in the morning the sunshine coming through the window builds the most beautiful color play I have ever seen and the grave of the famous Iranian poet Hafez as well as its surrounding garden.

From Shiraz we did a day trip to Persepolis eher my brother, Miriam and I went for the first little bit adventurous Hikes and enjoyed history, culture and weather.
